Going Good At Cheltenham

The going at Cheltenham was on Sunday reported to be largely good after the course took a total of 11mm of rain over Friday and Saturday.

Conditions were described as good with a few good to firm places by clerk of the course Simon Claisse whoexpects further rain to fall during the week.

'We had 5mm of rain on Friday and 6mm on Saturday, which is a nice amount,' he said. 'We are good but there is still a little good to firm areas after the 12th fence and down the hill by the 14th on the Old Course, but it is a diminishing amount.

'I am glad we took the action to water the course last week and ideally we need to see another 12mm of rain between now and next week and there is every indication from the forecast that we will get it.'
