Going will dictate Muthmir's Curragh raid Muthmir will only run in the Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh on September 13 if the ground is deemed quick enough by trainer William Haggas. The Newmarket handler felt his speedy sprinter, owned by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, could not cope with the dead conditions on the Knavesmire when sixth in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York on Friday. "He ran a fine race, but Paul (Hanagan) said he wasn't going from the start because of the ground," said Haggas. "He's definitely a top-of-the-ground horse. We've never made that a secret. Hopefully he'll get his conditions again this year. "I haven't spoken to Sheikh Hamdan, but I would like to run him in the Group Two in Ireland on Champions' Weekend if it's fast. "It always seems to rain when I go to Ireland so that seems unlikely and then the Abbaye. "If the ground is slow in Ireland he'll miss that and go straight to the Abbaye and if it's slow in France as well I shouldn't think he'll go anywhere until Dubai next March."
