Gossamer heads Coronation 12

Gossamer heads a field of 12 fillies to stand their ground at the final 48-hour declaration stage for the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday.

Luca Cumani`s filly disappointed in the Sagitta 1000 Guineas but bounced right back to form with a runaway win in the Entenmann`s-sponsored Irish version at the Curragh.

Among her rivals will be John Gosden`s Zenda.

She was a surprise winner of the French 1000 Guineas but finished last of 15 behind Gossamer in Ireland.

Gosden also saddles Pretty Polly Stakes second Disco Volante.

A likely improver in the field for the Group One event is Dolores, from the in-form Amanda Perrett stable.

The Danehill filly finished fourth in the Newmarket Classic on only second career start and confirmed that promise when following up in a Listed race at Goodwood next time.

Aidan O`Brien, already among the winners this week, is represented by Alstemeria, Maryinsky and Sophisticat.

Marcus Tregoning will be hoping Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Misterah can bounce back to form after finishing a slightly disappointing sixth at Newmarket, while John Hills` Newbury handicap winner Hideaway Heroine takes a big step up in class.

The field for the Stg£250,000 event is completed by Paul d`Arcy`s Lady High Havens, John Dunlop`s Red Liason and the Clive Brittain-trained Shiny.
