Gowran next for Castlebrook Castlebrook is poised to take the next rung of the chasing ladder at Gowran on Saturday November 23rd. Jimmy Mangan has pencilled in the Talbot Hotel Carlow Chase over two and a half miles, as a stepping stone for his giant-sized son of Oscar. After a striking start for the winning pointer over racecourse fences, at Wexford in October, the Conna trainer had looked towards Limerick at Christmas, and its Grade One novice chase prize. However match-practice will be required before the patiently handled six-year-old tackles such an assignment. The Grand National winning handler revealed: “Castlebrook is in good form and will run next in a winners' of two chase at Gowran on Saturday week. The form of his chase run at Wexford wasn't hectic but he would have needed that run.” He added on the Potts’ family’s exciting prospect: "We think he is pretty good but he'll need to be as there is plenty of ammunition in this country. Hopefully it'll be onwards and upwards for him and ultimately I see him as a three mile chaser."
