Griffin looking forward to Drumfire return Eoin Griffin is not expecting any fireworks from Drumfire when he returns to action in the Challenge Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday. The seven-year-old has not run since getting stuck in the soft ground over hurdles at Cheltenham last November. Bought from Mark Johnston, Drumfire has shown a good level of form on the Flat since moving to Griffin, but it is still over hurdles where the trainer sees his future. "We had him ready to run in the Vintage Crop Stakes in April but he struck into himself and that set him back a few weeks," said Griffin. "We've decided to go the route we took last year. We'll run him tomorrow night - he was second in it last year - and them we'll go for a maiden hurdle at Galway. "He's still a novice and we haven't lost faith. Some of the horses who beat him are very good. "Our expectations wouldn't be high tomorrow - we'll be happy with a respectable run - but he is wearing blinkers for the first time so we wouldn't be surprised if they brought about some improvement and he ran a big race." Taking him on are Jessica Harrington's consistent Bob Le Beau, the Vincent Ward-trained Fictional Account and John Oxx's Yorkshire Oaks entry Kalabaya.
