Group 1 winner joins Collins

Italian Group 1 winning filly Aoife Alainn has joined Curragh trainer Tracey Collins and holds an entry in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh on May 22.

The Irish bred daughter of Dr Fong was a winner of the Group 1 Premio Lydia Tesio on her latest start last October and has since joined Collins.

The trainer, who took over the license from her late father and much respected trainer Con Collins in January 2007, reported “Aoife Alainn has come to me as her owner Luca Guarnieri runs a very successful breeding operation at nearby Kilcullen (Deer Forest Stud, where he bred Aoife Alainn). Luca has horses all over Europe and is keen to get some Irish blacktype for her.”

“Aoife Alainn is a nice filly and it is a great privilege to have her in my care. Hopefully she’ll be competitive in Ireland too and, ground-wise, she likes to get her toe in. He best trip is a mile to a mile and a quarter.”
