Halley has Listowel options for Senecia Listowel is now firmly on the agenda for the Vincent Halley trained Sencia after his easy win at Wexford in July. A fine second on his racecourse debut at Limerick, the son of Ask went a place better at Bettyville, coming home eight-and-a-half lengths clear of subsequent winner Diamondinthemud. Halley now has options at Listowel for his five-year-old gelding, with Leopardstown at Christmas a long-term aim. "He came out of his run at Wexford really well," the Co Waterford based handler revealed. "The horses have been a bit off form lately. I haven't ran too many but the few I have run have been disappointing. "We said we'd wait for Listowel with him and he has two options there. There is a two-mile novice hurdle or one over two-and-a-half. I'll put him in both and just see closer to the time. "I think he handles any ground but I always thought he'd be better on a bit of nicer ground. "We will give him a short break at some stage but long term I have Leopardstown at Christmas at the back of my mind. You'd get some nice ground there. "I'd like to get more experience into him but at the same time I wouldn't like to be running him through the whole of winter on very testing heavy ground. He'd handle soft but there is a big difference between winter ground and summer soft." Halley went on to talk about the rest of his string, saying: "The horses I have in are mostly for the track. "Hopefully I might have another couple of runners down in Listowel. One for the winners three-year-old hurdle and possibly one for a beginners chase. "The three-year-old is an unraced Teofilo gelding. There is a few other options for him coming up and if he doesn't go to Listowel he could go to Gowran instead. "We like him and he is doing everything right at home. Obviously with three-year-old's you'd need everything to go right for them first time out as they are only babies. "Once he gets a few runs under his belt and a bit of experience you'd like to think that he will develop into a nice hurdler."
