Harmonium has Irish Derby as possible Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore finally got off the mark for the week with Glass Harmonium coming out on top in the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot. The pair combined to fill the runner-up spot three times on Wednesday as well as with Patkai in the Gold Cup earlier on the card. The 8-1 chance was held up in the early stages by the champion jockey but made stealthy headway to challenge for the lead in the straight. Strong travelling French raider Cashelgar moved up as a big danger but Glass Harmonium pulled out plenty to score by half a length. The stewards called an inquiry following possible interference between the first two home but unsurprisingly the placings remained unaltered. Stoute said: "He was beaten fair and square (in the Dante at York last time). "He's a horse that we always liked and we supplemented him for the Derby in March as I felt there was a possibility. "After the Dante, the plan was to come here." Peter Reynolds, representing the winning owner Ballymacoll Stud, added: "He's always been a really nice horse and that was more like a Group Three than a Listed race. "Sir Michael never spends his money without good reason and he supplemented him for the Derby. "He is still in the Irish Derby so we will have to see about that."
