Harold's Cross tops Midlands National field A maximum field of fourteen will line up for the Gigginstown House Midlands National Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan tomorrow evening. The race sponsor will be have three runners in the 2m 6f contest, with recent Connacht National winner Campbonnais, Conor O'Dwyer's Hangover and Paul Nolan's Politeo all donning the maroon and white silks. Davy Russell, principle jockey for Gigginstown horses, has opted to take the ride on the Charles Byrnes trained Campbonnais. David Casey will ride Hangover while Michael Doran will be aboard Politeo. The progressive Harold's Cross, who will be bidding for his fourth win in a row, will have to contend with top weight of 11-10. Alan Crowe takes the ride on the Christy Roche gelding running in the colours of JP McManus. Winner of the race in '08 and '09, Piano Star is also among the declared runners, with Future All Star for Colm Murphy another notable contestant in the €50,000 valued race.
