High Chaparral Possible For Juddmonte Stakes High Chaparral could race over a mile for the first time since his two-year-old season after Aidan O'Brien revealed that the Vodafone Derby winner may make his seasonal reappearance in the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury. O'Brien, who also disclosed that leading Sagitta 2,000 Guineas contender Statue Of Liberty faces a race against time to make the Newmarket Classic, is seriously considering an audacious tilt at the Group 1 with High Chaparral, for whom a top-flight mile success would enhance his future stud valuation. 'I'm really looking forward to High Chaparral this year,' said O'Brien, who trained the colt to wins in the Budweiser Irish Derby and Breeders` Cup Turf in addition to Epsom glory. 'It might surprise a lot of people, but I wouldn't mind looking at the Lockinge as a starting point for him. He's a horse with plenty of pace and the only reason he didn't go for the Guineas is that we had the other horses for the race. 'It's only a possibility, though, and in the end we willbe looking at all the big mile-and-a-quarter and mile-and-a-half races.' Hawk Wing, whose agonising defeat by High Chaparral in the Derby was sandwiched by similar narrow reverses in the 2,000 Guineas, Irish Champion Stakes and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, will bid to make amends this year with O'Brien hopeful that the imposing son of Woodman has made significant progress over the winter. 'Hawk Wing is a fine, big horse and as such you certainly wouldn't expect him to go backwards from three to four,' said O'Brien of the colt, whose sole victory in 2002 came in the Coral Eurobet Eclipse Stakes. 'He was probably unlucky to come up against Rock Of Gibraltar and High Chaparral last year. He has also always wanted fast ground and he was unlucky last year in the sense that he never got it. He's effective at a mile and we'll be looking up to a mile and a half with him.' Statue Of Liberty, who established himself as a serious Classic contender when stamping his authority over his rivals in last year's Coventry Stakes, is not certain to make the line-up for the Guineas. The son of Storm Cat, as short as 10-1 for the Guineas with Ladbrokes, could end up making his reappearance back at Royal Ascot, with O'Brien not ruling out taking the sprinting route via a tilt at the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes, in which former stable companion Johannesburg made a lacklustre final racecourse outing last year. O'Brien said: 'We have always thought a lot of Statue Of Liberty but he damaged a muscle in a shoulder after winning the Coventry and it took forever to get him back. 'Hopefully, he could be a nice horse and he's a possible for the Guineas although he may not be ready in time. If that was the case, he would probably end up at Royal Ascot, either for the St James's Palace or maybe the Golden Jubilee as he's not short of speed.'
