Highclere announce first Irish syndicate

Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, the successful multiple ownership team, have announced their first Irish syndicate.

Three yearlings will be purchased at an average price of €150,000

and they will be trained by John Oxx, Michael Grassick and Eddie Lynam.

Harry Herbert, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing`s founder and managing director, said: 'We are organising this first Irish syndicate because we have had plenty of interest and because we have found the right person in Elaine Lawlor to run it.'

Lawlor spent four years as trainer John Gosden`s PA in America before his return to the UK and had 12 years managing the very successful Oak Cliff racing enterprise in California.

Herbert continued: 'Since our first runners in 1993 we have, on occasions, been fortunate enough to run horses that have been successful against the battalions of Coolmore, the Maktoums and other principal owners and we are keen to continue that trend on the Irish stage.'

Class horses to have won for Highclere include such stars as 2000 Irish Oaks winner Petrushka, and champion sprinters Tamarisk and Lake Coniston.

As well as the new Irish syndicate, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing is also currently launching eight new syndicates with British-based trainers at share prices ranging from Stg#11,500 through to #40,000.
