Champion Hurdle favourite, Constitution Hill, will be back in action on Saturday in the Unibet Hurdle at Cheltenham on Trials Day and is 1-8 to land the spoils en route to the big festival in March. Fairyhouse hosts the action in Ireland on the same day.

Stephen Harris, racing editor for Betting Expert, and Vincent Finegan have looked away from the short-priced favourites to find some value bets on a fantastic weekend of racing.

GUARD YOUR DREAMS (VALUE ANGLE)

1.15 Cheltenham 2m4f handicap chase

Nigel Twiston-Davies has his team in blistering form, with six winners in the last fortnight at a 24pc strike rate (at a time when plenty of the top yards are suffering the effects of flu-jabs at the start of January). His chaser has won 1 of his 4 starts so far

over the larger obstacles, and has already gathered plenty of Cheltenham experience which is always a big plus in a slightly easier handicap.

1.50 Cheltenham 2m4f Handicap Chase

Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero are a young training team to follow over the next few seasons, and their exciting young chaser is fancied to make amends for an expensive fall at the first fence at Ascot last time out. He had shaped really well when just denied on his seasonal reappearance in the mud at Haydock (over confident ride and just outbattled by Trelawne), and can get his career back on track under a typically patient Jonjo O’Neill jnr.

Vincent Finegan’s Ireland Tips

ERNIE FROM NURNEY

12:28 Fairyhouse 2m. 1f. 30yds. Handicap Chase

Ernie From Nurney is interesting in this handicap chase off bottom weight. The eight-year-old lacks a recent run, but has been entered up in recent weeks which suggests he has been ready to run for a while. He is well handicapped over fences compared to his hurdles rating and will have no issues with the going. He would have most likely won on his last chase start if the final two fences had not been omitted at Wexford.

WILLIAM MUNNY

14:13 Fairyhouse 2m. Maiden Hurdle

William Munny's hurdle run at Christmas can be marked up as he made a serious error in the first half of the race and in the circumstances it was a decent performance to finish second. He was a high class Bumper horse and it should be only a matter of time until he reaches a similar level over hurdles and is a confident selection to get off the mark here.
