Hobson has Mullins looking forward Willie Mullins is looking forward to seeing what Thomas Hobson is capable of doing on some decent ground. The former John Gosden inmate has had trouble with his jumping since switching to hurdles but bar two late mistakes at Warwick on Saturday, he jumped much more fluently. The errors gave stablemate Open Eagle a sniff of victory, but Danny Mullins galvanised his mount to win comfortably in the end to complete a double having earlier won on Black Hercules. "Danny was very good on Black Hercules and he did well to stay on Thomas Hobson," Mullins told At The Races. "David (Mullins) was very happy with Open Eagle and he nearly capitalised on the other horse's mistake. "The other (Thomas Hobson) jumped a lot better but just when he got a bit tired, he lost concentration and he's probably not able to shorten. Once he learns how to do that we might see what he's capable of. "He looked a really good horse. If you take out those two mistakes he was a very comfortable winner, so he's a horse I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do over hurdles but he could also go back to the Flat. "The way he galloped on that ground, I'd love to see what he could do on good ground. He was beautiful to watch."
