Dermot Weld saddled his first winner since Homeless Song's scintillating victory in last month's Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas when Giladah scored at Leopardstown last night and afterwards had news of his star performer.

The daughter of Frankel, owned and bred by Moyglare Stud, is favourite, at a best price of 5/4, for next Friday's Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Newmarket Guineas winner Cachet, French Guineas heroine Mangoustine and last year’s champion juvenile filly Inspiral are all set to be in opposition,

Weld stated: "Anything she has done since the Curragh she has done nicely and we are all set for next week provided the ground is suitable.

“I wouldn’t like to see the word firm strongly mentioned in the going.”

The master of Rosewell also outlined plans for smart stayer Falcon Eight who won the Chester Cup last year and was 7/4 favourite for the Queen Alexandra at the Royal meeting when finishing ninth.

“Falcon Eight will run in the Queen Alexandra on the Saturday.

“He ran in it last year but the ground had come up very testing by the last race.

“He looks just as good a horse this year and I thought he ran an excellent race this year in the Chester Cup with 9.12 on his back.

“I think he’s all set to run a very good race.”
