HRI ANNOUNCE INCENTIVE PLAN FOR OVERSEAS RUNNERS

Horse Racing Ireland has unveiled an incentive scheme to attract more overseas runners to contest Black Type races in Ireland.

With immediate effect, all overseas runners in Irish Pattern and Listed races under both codes will receive a travel allowance of

EUR1,000 if they finish out of the prize money.

This significant incentive will be on offer in all the 94 Flat and 113 National Hunt Black Type races staged annually in Ireland, spread among 18 different racecourses.

HRI`s Director of Racing Jason Morris commented, 'A number of racecourses have historically offered their own individual travel incentive schemes, but now for the first time Horse Racing Ireland will be guaranteeing a standard EUR1,000 payment to any

overseas runner which finishes out of the prize money in a Pattern or Listed

race.'

Morris added, 'This tremendous incentive, coupled with Ireland`s enhanced

Black Type programme and attractive prize money, should encourage greater overseas participationin Ireland`s major races. Increased international competition will add to the quality of our races and provide extra

excitement for racecgoers.'
