HRI ANNOUNCE PRIZEMONEY INCREASE HORSE RACING IRELAND have announced a substantial increase in prize money for next year. The overall fund, excluding point-to-points, is expected to rise from 45.6 million euros to 49 million euros. HRI`s contribution to this record sum will be 27.9million euros and the HRI believes this increase will ensure base values can be maintained, or improved in some cases, even with 20 new fixtures next year. The Board of HRI has also approved a simplified framework for allocation of prize funds in the future meaning that there will be no reduction in the absolute minimum values, no change to the pattern-race minimum values and increases in prize money for higher quality Flat races below pattern level. Jason Morris, director of racing, said: 'Horse Racing Ireland has reaffirmed its commitment to offering prize money which bears the most favourable international comparison. 'By revising and simplifying the structure for distributing prize money, HRI intends to ensure that all horses are rewarded broadly in accordance with their ability throughout their careers.'
