Apprentice jockey Hugh Horgan registered a hurdles winner during Christmas and today bagged another success on the Flat, landing Dundalk’s Friday Night Lights Handicap (Div I) on the Tracey Collins-trained Limestone Red (5/1).

Horgan, son of ex-jump jockey Trevor Horgan, bagged a Leopardstown Christmas festival success on his cousin Joseph O’Brien’s Duke Silver and today he followed up last Friday’s Flat success on Voice of Reason.

On Limestone Red, Horgan improved the six-year-old to lead a furlong out with the pair scoring by 1.5 lengths from Mystical Rock .

Collins commented "Hugh is more than capable, he gave that horse a lovely ride because he isn’t the easiest and can be tricky. He got him into a sweet rhythm and did everything right.

“Limestone Red has been very consistent but the handicaps up here are very tight, with the draw having a big impact. I'm not making an excuse but he has had bad draws all along,

"He has done it and I’m delighted for Mr and Mrs Hendron (owners) who have been great supporters of mine and it is a good way to start the year.
