Impek Enters King George Equation

Impek´s connections are giving the Stan James King George VI Chase serious consideration following an impressive victory at Huntingdon.

The nine-year-old extended trainer Henrietta Knight and owner Jim Lewis´ fine record in the totesport Peterborough Chase with a comfortable five-length defeat of Monkerhostin under Tony McCoy.

Impek, who also boasts a victory over the King George course and distance, appears a much-improved customer this season following a fine success at Aintree last month.

'I usually feed him, and he went straight through his breakfast - he´s very fresh,' Knight´s husband and assistant Terry Biddlecombe told At The Races.

'He did it in good style and AP (McCoy) gave him a great ride.

'I think as he´s got a bit older, he´s got a lot stronger. He´s a tough little horse and why not go for the King George?

'The form is all upside down at the moment and he´s won over three miles around Sandown before so there´s no reason why he shouldn´t have a little tilt at it if everything goes according to plan.'

Impek is a general 12-1 shot for the Boxing Day feature.
