Imperial May Stride To America

Imperial Stride could tackle the Breeders´ Cup Turf in America after running in the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket next month.

Sir Michael Stoute´s colt is set to step back up to Group One company for the first time since 2003 at Headquarters on October 15, and connections are already eyeing the Belmont Park feature two weeks later.

Imperial Stride was a high-class juvenile, finishing a close sixth in the Dewhurst, but he disappointed in each of his three starts last season.

The four-year-old has bounced back to form this year though, notching up four wins including the Scottish Derby and September Stakes.

Although connections have ruled out the Prix de l´Arc de Triomphe, Joe Mercer, racing manager to owner Saeed Suhail, thinks the Breeders´ Cup could be an ideal opportunity.

He said: 'The Breeders´ Cup Turf is the one we want to go for after the Champion Stakes and I´m sure Belmont would suit him.'
