Injured jockeys update

Jockeys Paul Townend and Kevin Coleman are both aiming to return to race-riding in time for Easter, each having suffered collarbone injuries recently.

Championship leader Townend fractured his left collarbone in a fall from the fatally injured Indian Buck at Navan on March 26 while the luckless Coleman fell from Steady Ed in a beginners chase two days earlier at Thurles.

Townend said “I had an operation in Waterford three days ago to put a pin in it and specialist Tadhg O’Sullivan was happy it went well. I’m hoping to be back in time for the Fairyhouse Festival.”

Coleman meanwhile stated “I thankfully didn’t have to go for an operation but it is my third time fracturing my collarbone in the last 10 months. I should be back in three or four weeks.”
