A native of northern Germany, Maike Magnussen recorded her first success at Listed level when Tountinna (10/1) got the better of the market principals in Limerick's Book Panoramic Restaurant Novice Hurdle), over two miles, five furlongs.

The homebred Order Of St George mare, a maiden winner at Cork in April, had run poorly in a Listowel handicap after her summer break but travelled well behind the leaders on this occasion.

Darragh O'Keeffe's mount went past Dallas Star and Emerald Enigma to take up the running before two out and she stayed on well to defeat that pair by six lengths and a nose.

"This is absolutely brilliant and is my career highlight," said Magnussen, who trains in Newtown, near Nenagh.

"I would have been happy with a place today but she travelled like a dream and jumped like a stag. Darragh couldn't have been any better.

"She was in season last time so was quiet in herself but is learning as she is going along. I didn't think beyond today and we'll go step by step now.

"Seamus (McKeogh) is from Killaloe and is a very good owner with me. He also has another very good horse Moylussa and this success is great, as he has a foal full-brother to Tountinna going to the sales soon."
