The Doneraile Handicap, with total prize money of 50,000 euro, was the feature at Cork and the five-furlong contest was run at a scorching pace.

Front-runners Genesis and Eclairage were reeled in approaching the final furlong as dual juvenile Listed winner Ipanema Queen came through to lead.

Trained by Robson De Aguiar for Stonestreet Stables, LLC and Amo Racing Ltd, the Sands Of Mali three-year-old edged right in the closing stages and just held on by a short-head as Erosandpsyche #160;finished best of all.

The latter was done no favours by the winner's lateral movement close home, but the stewards let the result stand after taking a look.

"Today was the first time she has got her trip, on a track and ground which all suit her," said winning rider Donagh O'Connor

"She has plenty of natural speed and was tough all the way to line.

"The pace moved across the track and she was inclined to follow the horse in front. I was keen to keep her as straight as I could, but also keeping momentum up.

"We were lifting in the race ,but it still felt like she could go quicker. She has been highly tried this year and was at her best today."
