It's Bobsled Time sprang an enormous shock in the academy hurdle at Naas as he popped up at 250/1 with 500/1 available.

The Telescope gelding was hunted around in last place by Michael Kenneally and the pair were still fully third-last at the final flight that the field jumped

With the two flights in the home straight omitted due to low-lying sun, It's Bobsled Time made good headway to power into contention approaching the final furlong.

He tackled Kilbarry Alexy at the wings of the bypassed last and took over inside the final furlong. Ritz Plan on the stands' side rail, was a late challenger but It's Bobsled Time wasn't stopping as he passed the post with two and a-quarter lengths in hand.

Ritz Plan took the runner-up berth at a very easy-to-back 9/2 and she was five lengths ahead of a weakening Kilbarry Alexy (16/1).

Kenneally said: “He didn’t have a huge amount of form coming into it, but Richie (Morrissey, trainer) is a shrewd man and is probably better known for point-to-pointers than anything else.

“They went good and hard early, and on that ground they were always going to stop. I was happy to creep away, and he was gutsy and game.”

The trainer’s last winner under rules was over 12 years ago, with very few runners since.
