Jabreen was a significant market mover this morning and the money proved well founded in the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden

From 12/1, his price collapsed down to 5/2 before he went off at 4/1 on debut for the Slatterys.

The Saxon Warrior colt was positioned in fourth at the halfway point of this six-furlong contest and closed for Andrew Slattery inside the final quarter of a mile.

Further progress saw him hit the front outside the final furlong and he stuck to his task well in the centre of the track to beat 11/8 favourite Champion Basma by three-quarters of a length. Jade Fox (100/1) was almost five lengths adrift in third.

Andy Slattery said: "He's a nice horse. He probably wants seven (furlongs) or a mile, but he worked so well last week we said we'd run him over six (furlongs). I think he's very useful.

"Niall Ryan is representing the owner (Almishrab Racing) who is from Dubai. I've never met the man.

That's probably it for the year now. I don't know what his plans are to do from now. I think the owner's father or his uncle was second in the trainers championship in Dubai last year so, whether they take him back there, I don't know. Whether they take him back to Dubai,  whether they sell him or keep him in Ireland, I don't know.

"Andrew said he won very comfortably.

"He'll go on any ground. We always thought a good bit of him. Andrew wanted to run him over seven (furlongs) after he worked last week, but I said he was sharp enough for six."
