Jisco Du Brem (10/3) outstayed the favourite Kevlar at the end of two miles in the bumper at Kilbeggan.

Jisco Du Brem was the meat in the sandwich between Kevlar and Palpatate in the final furlong, but found most of the trio in the closing stages to go by a length and a-half for Adam Ryan from Kevlar (11/5f). Palpatate was half a length further away in third at 13/2 from 9/1.

Jonathan Sweeney said: “He had a good run in Ballinrobe (runner-up)and ran into a good horse on the night, and he improved from that. I think he’ll improve more and hopefully we’ll have a bit of fun with him.

“He said he was there a bit sooner than he wanted to be, but it worked out well.

“The main aim will be to go hurdling and I’d say he’s better on soft ground. That’s proper good ground and has dried out during the evening.

“He had a few problems along the way as you do with horses and it’s good for Tom (Hegarty, owner) who has been patient with him.”
