Jonathan Burke is set to make a swift return to action this weekend after suffering a heavy fall in the opening race at Thurles on Thursday.

The leading jockey was partnering Sizing Silver Irish Stallion Farms EBF Rated Novice Chase when he came to grief four fences from the finish.

Burke had to be s tood down for the remainder of the card, missing the ride on Smashing, who landed the feature Thurles Racecourse Supporters Club Chase, but his injuries are not serious.

The jockey's agent, Garry Cribbin, said: "He went to hospital in Clonmel, for precautionary checks more than anything, and he's been given the all-clear.

"I've spoken to him and he's a bit sore, which is to be expected, but all being well he'll be good to go again at Fairyhouse on Saturday."
