Joncol back on track for Lexus

Paul Nolan today reported Joncol back on track, after an injury picked up on his comeback run, and is hopeful for a return to form in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown on Tuesday week.

Last year's Hennessy winner disappointed on his return to action at Navan last month when trailing in last in the Fortria Chase after jumping badly to the right throughout.

Subsequent tests revealed a muscle injury and Nolan is confident that treatment has corrected the issue which was effecting his stable star.

“The plan with Joncol is still the Lexus all going well. He just had a small bit of trouble with a muscle,” said Nolan.

“Hopefully that's sorted now. He has had loads of physio and we left no stone unturned. It was a relief to find something."

Nolan is also set to be represented by exciting novice chaser Noble Prince in the Bord na Mona Novice Chase at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day.

The gelding made a big impression on his chase debut at Punchestown back in October and is set for a serioius test now with Mikael D'Haguenet likely to be among the rivals.

“Noble Prince is in good form and is also an intended runner all going well. It looks like Mikael D'Haguenet will run but it's a Grade One and you're going to meet the best.

“He looked good the last day and I suppose if he had won he probably wouldn't have went for this but with the fall I'd say he'll turn up.”
