In a first time hood, Kabylia showed her true worth as she came from last to first in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares INH Flat Race.

Second in a point-to-point when in the care of Colin Bowe and bought by current connections for E165,000, she finished a tailed off last of seven on her racecourse debut, but wasa more encouraging fifth when last seen at Down Royal on St Patrick's Day.

Sent off a 14/1 chance this evening, the Gavin Cromwell-trained five-year-old was given a patient ride by Declan Lavery, making steady headway with half a mile to go.

Sent to the front from the furlong pole, the Jackie and Colin Russell-owned bay quickly settled matters and came home five and a half lengths to the good.

A runner-up on debut at Ballinrobe, Isabella Johnson again had to settle for second under John Gleeson for Aidan Melia, while Apple's Jade (3/1) was another length away in third.

Sent off favourite, but drifting from evens to 9/4, the Willie Mullins-trained Sip Sip Hooray finished a tailed off twelfth.

"I fancied her to run well as she's started doing things right at home. She's been very keen," Cromwell reflected.

"Jack Martin rides her all the time at home, and he's done a great job on her. She's been settling a lot better, and they went a good gallop today.

"She went asleep at the back, has loads of gears and ran through the line which is encouraging."

STEWARDS REPORTS
