Kalsman brought up plenty of bets when victorious in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Down Royal.

From as big as 25/1 in the morning, he went off a 17/2 shot.

Caragh Monaghan sent him on from the second flight and asked him for more between the final two hurdles. She had a game partner who came in by three lengths from Justicialism (20/1). Queen Nel was just under three lengths further back in third at 9/1.

Liam Lennon said: "A nice performance.

"We always thought he was a good horse. He just had a wee slight hiccup last year, so we gave him a year off. His comeback run (sixth in Downpatrick) was quite good when he made the running and just got tired the last 50 yards.

"Today worked out fine, Caragh was good on him. Caragh rides a lot of work for us and, a small team like us, we have to repay the people that are good to you.

"He has schooled over fences and we will probably put him over fences next. He would be a nice horse to go to England with - Willie (Anderson, owner) likes a weekend away in England.

"He loves the good ground."
