On her first ride back after breaking her collarbone at Limerick in April, Sarah Kavanagh partnered Master Sydney to a comfortable win in the concluding Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares (Ladies Pro/Am) INH Flat Race.

Placed at both Cork and Listowel in May, the Paul Flynn-trained four-year-old was given a patient ride this evening, making good headway from early in the straight.

In front with two-furlongs to go, the 5/1 chance (from 7s) readily increased her advantage from there and came home four-and-three-quarters of a length to the good.

Sean Aherne's Palpatate (11/2) filled the runner-up spot under Anna McGuinness, while Fraher Field (4/1 from 9s early) was another length away in third.

Returned the 10/3 favourite, the Emmet Mullins-trained Barra Rua finished fourth.

"I don't think she was right the last day, I don't know what was wrong," Flynn revealed.

"I know she ran well and was second but I was very disappointed because she just had no pick up. You can see today she has loads of pace.

"I think she could be a really good Flat filly. I might go to Galway for a fillies maiden there on the Friday.

"I could stick to this route, I know she looks like a jumping filly, but she's very quick at home. She is a mile-and-a-half quick, she works really well.

"It's good for the owners (Nathan Matthews). I think they had a bit of bad news this week so this is a bit of better news.”

Bought for E11,000 as a yearling, the bay victor is a half-sister to the Paddy Twomey-trained Pharos Freedom, who won a maiden on debut at Tipperary in May.
