Colin Keane bagged a double at Bellewstown when Empress Artemis ran out a convincing winner of the Peader Kearney’s Pub Handicap, leading home a one-two for trainer Ger Lyons.

The consistent filly had been runner-up on her previous three outings and went to post 9/4 favourite this afternoon.

Keane had his mount disputing at halfway and she edged ahead passing the two pole.

The Mehmas filly was soon asked for an effort and kept on well inside the final furlong to hold stablemate Glyndwr by a length-and-a-half.

Lyons said: "That filly is not winning out of turn, she has promised to do that all summer. She has been second at least three times.

"A lovely filly as you can see. A weak finisher and it was nice to get the job done today. She deserves it.

"The track probably suits the likes of her. It is important for these fillies to tick the box.

"The job was to win with her. We will try and win with her again, but I'm nearly sure she is going to the sales."

On the runner-up, he added: "Nicola (Burns) is great value for her 7lb and she has been a great asset to the yard since she joined us.

"He could go to Dundalk all the way up to Christmas."

Keane had also been on the mark in the opener aboard Touted Plan
