Keep Him Company stayed on very stoutly to cap a magical Christmas period for Gordon Elliott in the concluding bumper at Leopardstown.

His in-running odds increased markedly when the front three began to get away from him in the final quarter of a-mile.

Josh Williamson was hard at work aboard the five-year-old gelding, but he had a willing partner.

Once he came under a drive a furlong and a-half down, he really stayed on well to mow down his rivals inside the final 200 yards. He galloped on relentlessly to open up by four and a-half lengths at a nicely-backed 10/3.

The easy-to-back Passenger ran a creditable race in second at 16/1 and he was more than three lengths in front of Royal Hillsborough (16/1).

Elliott said: “He’s the kind of horse you could see back here in a three-mile chase in a few years’ time. He’s a real good one.

"He might come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival, but that’s as tight as he’d want the ground.”

Elliott saddled four winners at Leopardstown today to go with one in Limerick.

This made it 18 winners over the four days at Christmas that comprised racing at Leopardstown, Limerick and Down Royal.

Paddy Power gave Keep Him Company a first show of 10/1 for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham.
