Kenneally continues winning streak on Pebble Bleu Michael Kenneally made it five winners from five rides in the space of just over 24 hours as Pebble Bleu made all in the ThatPrizeGuy.co.uk Mares Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown. The East Cork native gave James The Brave a well-judged ride from the front earlier on the card and was again seen to good effect when adopting the same tactics on this 9/4 favourite. The Colin Mothereway-trained grey mare, carrying a 7lb penalty after winning over a similar trip at Thurles last Thursday, took control from early in the straight and kept up a relentless gallop to beat Slotty Dotty by three and a half lengths. The pair pulled 13 lengths clear of Catchabird in third. Motherway said, “I thought it might come too soon after running such a good race in Thurles last Thursday, but she came out of it bouncing and she just seems to be improving with age. “She likes to get on with it. She has a high cruising speed, and she loves what she’s doing. “Mike gets on great with her. He’s riding out of his skin at the moment and he’s great. “I’m delighted for John and Sharon (Flavin), who have been big supporters of my yard. They have trusted me with this mare and thankfully I’m paying them back now. “John wants to cover her as she’s a valuable broodmare now; she’s got a great pedigree. We’ll tip away and we might find another race for her over fences maybe.” Kenneally is now level with Eoin Staples at the head of the conditional jockeys championship on the 23-winner mark, and his claim will be reduced from 7lb down to 5lb after today.
