Kevin Manning wins appeal

The Gordon Elliott-trained Manoir de Mirande (4/1) was a tough winner of the Winter Festival Early Bird Tickets on Sale Now Beginners Chase for rider Jack Kennedy. The four-year-old son of It's Gino put in a solid round of jumping throughout the contest and stayed on well when faced with the challenge of favourite Glen Kiln to win by a short head in the six-runner contest.

The Dermot Weld-trained Zelani (3/10) gave favourite Backers a few moments of worry as he responded well after being headed to secure victory in the M.L.A. Engineering Ltd Supporting Ardclough GAA Maiden for rider Chris Hayes. The son of New Bay led throughout the contest, but market rival Tax Me Later came alongside and headed the eventual winner. However, in the final furlong, Zelani got back up to win by three-quarters of a length.

The Jim Bolger-trained Admired Beauty (20/1) got off the mark at the fourth time of asking for rider Andy Slattery in the opener at Naas. The daughter of Blue Point was second on debut in a Curragh maiden that has worked out well since, but has been slightly disappointing since. However, she showed the benefit of the step up in trip to a mile to snatch victory from the hands of Ted's Turn, who bossed the race throughout and looked to be the winner. But under a strong Slattery drive, Admired Beauty got up at the post to win by a nose.
