Khawlah wins UAE Derby Khawlah (4-1 fav) won a thrilling UAE Derby by a nose from Master Of Hounds. Like Skysurfers in the previous race, the winner was racing in the colours of Godolphin. However because Frankie Dettori couldn't manage the weight, the task of steering the filly home was left to 18-year-old jockey Mikael Barzalona. The Cape Cross filly still had several lengths to find off the home turn but she stayed on in determined fashion to pip Master Of Hounds by the smallest of margins. The runner-up, sent off at 11-1, was trained by Aidan O'Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore and ran a blinder on his all-weather debut, whilst Mahbooba (9-2) stayed on for a never threatening third
