Kill Devil Hill is likely to miss the boylesports.com Gold Cup at Cheltenham on Saturday and instead take his chance in the O'Connell Logistics Hilly Way Chase at Cork a day later.

Paul Nolan's six-year-old also holds an entry in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown on Sunday but is also set to sidestep a clash with Cheltenham Gold Cup winner War Of Attrition.

'It's more likely that he will run in the Hilly Way,' revealed Nolan.

'It's lashing down with rain again though and I hope there is no doubt about the meeting going ahead. It's 90% certain to be the Cork race though.

'It's not really the ground which has influenced the decision, it's more that I don't want to take him away from home for his first trip and have a bad experience.

'He's only a young horse and it might put him off travelling for a while.

'I hope we make the right decision. The heavy ground will be no issue for him as he has won in it before.

Kill Devil Hill just lost out in a titanic struggle with Sir Oj in the Clonmel Oil Chase on his last start.

'Sir Oj did us no favours the last time by jumping out to his left at every fence so it wasn't a bad performance at all really,' added Nolan.

'I was really pleased with him because he hadn't had a run for a while and his form went a bit haywire at the end of last season.

'At least it showed he had lost none of his ability.'
