King will bid for Hexham compo

King Roonah will bid for quick compensation after his Perth fall on Sunday, when he lines-up in the Wedding Day Handicap Hurdle at Hexham tomorrow.

Gordon Elliott's charge (having just his second outing for Capranny Stables there) had a novices' handicap chase 'in the bag' yesterday, being fifteen lengths to the good when falling at the last. Brian Hughes was in the plate then but back over the smaller obstacles around the stiff Hexham circuit, King Roonah will be guided by Tony McCoy.

He isn't the only Irish runner in this contest as Michael Cunningham sends across Belanak (Tom O'Brien up) and Joe Magee will give Stephen the leg-up on Sadler's Cove.

Joerg Vasicek saw his Termagant finish ninth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh on Sunday and the owner of Kenilworth House Stud outside Newcastle in south County Tipperary will see his silks carried in a very different setting when Symphonica goes into battle under Tony McCoy in the two and a half mile maiden hurdle.

This well-bred daughter of Definite Article ran well coming off a break last time and she will face eight rivals in her bid to get off the mark.

Ballylanigan is another strong contender for the Gordon Elliott/Tony McCoy alliance in the long distance novices' chase. This fellow might have been fortunate to collect at Kilbeggan last time but a big performance seems sure now from the likeable blinkered eight-year-old who is owned by Ward Union joint field master, Stephen O'Connor.

Elliott's Justnotthatsimple is also in here.
