Kingscliff On Form After Haydock Spin

Kingscliff has been given a clean bill of health after his heroics in the betfair Chase at Haydock.

Robert Alner´s eight-year-old put up a textbook display of jumping to land the first leg of the Betfair Million with a length and a quarter to spare from Beef Or Salmon.

In doing so, the Toulon gelding dethroned Kicking King, who finished third in the Haydock feature, and the pair are now the 7-2 joint favourites with William Hill for the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup.

'He´s fine and is out in the field with his mates,' said Sally Alner, wife of the Dorset trainer.

'He ate up everything after the race and on Sunday morning and will now be out in the field for the rest of the week.

'He´s going hunting every Wednesday between now and Christmas though because that´s what he likes.'

Kingscliff is now set to renew rivalries with Kicking King in the Stan James King George VI Chase at Sandown - the second leg of the Betfair Million.

'Sandown´s the only race he can really get into so that will be the plan now, fingers crossed,' added Mrs Alner.
