Lady Powers clear in fillies maiden Powerful Lady quickened away in fine style to open her account in decisive fashion in the fillies maiden at Dundalk. The Natalia Lupini-trained daughter of Hello Youmzain was produced to lead over a furlong from home in the mile contest by Robbie Colgan. She soon asserted and despite drifting to her left in the closing stages the 15/8 shot went on to post a three-and-three-quarter length success over 13/8 favourite Beautiful Affair. The winner had been second in a nursery at the venue on her last outing, just before Christmas. The trainer’s partner Craig Bryson said: "The last day she ran very well over seven (furlongs) - just touched off carrying a good weight. "She was staying well at the finish again, so we thought we would take a chance and step her up to the mile. "She travelled well everywhere and quickened lovely up the straight. "Robbie was saying afterwards that 1m2f might not be any problem going forward. We'll see how she is and where we go. "I think she is the sort of filly that wants a nice, level, even surface to bring out the best in her. She ran very well in Cork the first day out and back here she has probably had her best runs. "We threw her in on Tuesday (at Dundalk) just to see, but we will probably keep her up in trip now at a mile. "Maybe back to Cork when the season starts if there was a nice race for her."
