The Joseph O'Brien trained Synners Kid followed up his recent win at Naas when coming from last to first under Dylan Browne McMonagle to land the opening KC Shipping Nursery Handicap at Bellewstown.

Despite being raised 10lb for that aforementioned success, the son of Ten Sovereigns was sent off 2/1jf to follow up against similar opposition.

Slowly away, McMonagle rode a patient race on the topweight, anchoring him in last place as the leaders passed the halfway stage.

Moving into mid division over two furlongs out, Synners Kid came with a strong run down the outside of runners to head pace setter Blessings To You over a furlong out.

Soon clear, the O'Brien trained juvenile kept on strongly to beat Down The Glen by five-lengths, with Blessings To You back in third.

Dylan Browne McMonagle said: "He did it well - we went very quick, though, it was very much a bit of a pace collapse on the front end, I think. Once we got to the furlong pole, they were treading water whereas I was just joining in.

"He picked up good and he has taken a good step forward from his first run."

When asked if he thinks he is best with plenty of cut in the ground, he replied: "Possibly so. He handles the cut in the ground and we are not really yet to see him on top of the ground either. It has been slow (ground) on most of his runs and he gets through it good.

"He could be a good, fun horse going forward.

"I think so (could handle step up in class), he's a big horse and he carried plenty of weight today. Hopefully, he can keep on progressing, he's going the right way."
