Leading Irish National Contenders to have prep gallop at Fairyhouse Powers Whiskey Irish Grand National leading contenders will complete a racecourse gallop at Fairyhouse Racecourse, Ratoath, Co. Meath. Date: Monday 30th March 2009 Racecourse Gallop: 12.45 sharp Venue: Bobbyjo Bar, Fairyhouse Racecourse, Ratoath, Co. Meath Leading trainers Noel Meade, Dessie Hughes and Tony Martin will gallop a number of Powers Whiskey Irish Grand National contenders (Casey Jones, Parson's Pistol, Oulart, Vic Venturi, Newbay Prop & Hold the Pin) and others to be confirmed) at Fairyhouse Racecourse prior to the weights for this year's race being announced. Former winning jockey and Powers Whiskey Irish Grand National Ambassador Richard Dunwoody will gallop one of the contenders. Over 30,000 race goers are expected to attend the Easter Festival, it is one of the greatest sporting and social occasions of the year and runs from Sunday 12th to Tuesday 14th April 2009. There will be over ?1 million prize money on offer over the three days and a number of UK horses are expected to compete for one of Ireland's most prestigious races.
