Lemon Zest another Killarney winner for John Joseph Murphy Lemon Zest signed off on another successful July Festival for trainer John Joseph Murphy when keeping on late to win the Christy Lucey Transport Mares (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Killarney. Ridden by Harry Swan, the four-year-old was a third winner of the festival for the Cork based trainer who likes to target this meeting every year. Fourth of 16 on her recent racecourse debut at Tipperary earlier this month, the daughter of Churchill came forward from that promising introduction. Tracking the leaders throughout, the filly was pushed along to go third early in the home straight. Getting to Fraher Field and Beir Bua over 100 yards from the finish, the 7/2 chance went on to win by one-and-a-half lengths. George Murphy said: "She had been green the first day and was still babyish today but it was a good effort. Harry thought she'd come on again from the run and he said she will be nice when she goes up in trip over hurdles. I was quite impressed with her. "It's been a good week, that's our third winner and all the horses ran very well. It is a great place to come and I've been coming down here since I was small with dad and Andrew McNamara senior, and we've always loved the place." Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes.
