A maiden after 14 starts and rated just 39, Draiocht won Killarney's 0-60 handicap over a mile in the hands of Killian Leonard.

The 16/1 chance, trained by Thomond O'Mara for his partner Roisin Hickey, raced in mid-division before making progress early in the straight. Having hit the front over a furlong from home, he was ridden out to hold the veteran Swiss Army Officer and front-running Super Exceed by half a length and a nose.

Leonard explained: "He had an okay run in Cork (fifth) and didn't handle the undulations in Bellewstown (fourth) in August. He likes a good galloping track and a mile is as far as he wants to go, but he has done it well.

"The key to him is when he settles and gets into a rhythm, as you can use him then. He can be quite free but he settled today. "
