Leopardstown appeals dismissed

The appeal of Macs Joy against his disqualification at Leopardstown on February 8, together with the appeal of bumper runner-up The Railway Man on the same card, were both dismissed following a hearing of the Appeals & Referrals Committee at the Turf Club yesterday.

Macs Joy beat Kilbeggan Lad by three lengths in the handicap hurdle but was demoted behind that rival for causing interference on the run-in.

The Railway Man was beaten a length by Malahide Marina, who drifted left in the closing stages of the bumper.

The two incidents occurred on an extraordinary afternoon for the stewards with five enquiries in all.
