Luminous Light was presented with victory at the last in the Albert Bartlett Series Qualifier Handicap Hurdle at Cork as Jacovec Cavern crashed out when in command.

It looked all over as Jacovec Cavern skipped clear after the third last but after a slight error at the penultimate hurdle he was long at the final flight and crumpled on landing.

Luminous Light grabbed the opportunity and the Anthony McCann-trained gelding went on to score by a length-and-a-quarter under Sean Flanagan.

The 7/1 winner was following up on a victory over fences at Clonmel last month.

"I wasn't inclined to run him but Sean said the ground was safe enough and stayed out wide, where there was some more juice,” said McCann.

"There was a lot of carnage in the race and I hope everyone is alright, but you need a bit of luck in this game. He encountered carnage everywhere around, with horses falling in front of him but maybe it kept him that wee bit more interested.

"What can you say about Sean, who is now a Champion Chase-winning jockey and a big thanks to the lads at home, as he isn't the easiest horse to work with. He can be free and keen and they keep a lid on him.

"That's him qualified for the Final at Punchestown so we'll put him away for that now and give the boys a day out."

Niall Prendergast, who rode Jacovec Cavern, was taken to hospital for assessment following the fall. He was reported to be conscious.
