Limerick and Chepstow both off Following an inspection this morning, the track at Limerick was found to be waterlogged and unfit for racing after 18mm of rain since yesterday afternoon. As a result of this, and with further rain forecast, today’s meeting has been cancelled. There will be a precautionary inspection at 8am tomorrow ahead of Monday's meeting at the venue. Leopardstown, with a start time of 12.05pm, will be the sole domestic action today. After 16mm of overnight rain, the going is now soft on the hurdles course (with around 5 yards of fresh ground) and the chase course (same racing line as yesterday) has eased to yielding, yielding to soft in places. There is a chance of some wintry showers today and overnight. Across the water, the Coral Welsh Grand National meeting at Chepstow has also fallen foul of the weather. After a very wet night, an inspection there this morning revealed the track to be waterlogged in places. The fixture has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 9th. Kempton’s ground is soft, good to soft in places (from good to soft yesterday) following 8mm of rain and the likes of Altior and Shishkin are in action there today. Racing at Wetherby goes ahead today on heavy ground after the track passed an 8am inspection but tomorrow's meeting at Leicester is another cancellation due to waterlogging.
