Limerick manager hails 'phenomenal festival' Limerick’s racecourse manager Conor O’Neill today expressed his delight at the crowd at the Munster venue, which have topped 33,000 for the opening three days. The four day meeting was badly hit by Christmas abandonments in 2015 due to waterlogging but O’Neill today stated “we’re well up on any previous years and it’s been a phenomenal success this year and particularly so after last year when we lost St Stephen’s Day and the 29th. “I’d like to thank the team and their efforts are rewarded with the crowd figures. There were 13,742 here on St Stephen’s Day, 11,085 yesterday and 8,939 today which are all well up on previous years.” He added “it is bittersweet for myself as I am moving roles to be commercial manager at Punchestown in the New Year but it is great to go out with such a good festival.” In comparison, the 2015 crowd figures were 10,234 for December 27 and 7,521 for December 28.
