Lingfield & Kempton both abandoned This afternoon's all-weather fixture at Lingfield, together with this evening's meeting at Kempton, have been abandoned due to a shortage of ambulances. Although the track at Lingfield was considered fine for racing - despite overnight temperatures plummeting to minus 10.9C - the terrible conditions have led to a prioritisation of National Health Service resources. Lingfield clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross said: "The Ambulance Service has been called into a state of emergency so they cannot attend the course. We obviously can't operate without the necessary safety precautions so the decision was taken out of our hands really." This evening's all-weather fixture at Kempton has also been abandoned for the same reason. Kempton Clerk of the course Barney Clifford said: "In the eyes of the NHS Trust, the country is on red alert. They therefore had to issue a 'force majeure' which meant we were unable to be provided with ambulances. "We were also unable to secure private cover as their resources are also pooled by the NHS. It's such a shame as the course is perfectly raceable."
