Logic on target for Curragh

Mick Channon declared himself 'thrilled' with Queen`s Logic after the filly worked this morning ahead of her run in the Entenmann`s Irish 1000 Guineas at The Curragh a week on Sunday.

Queen`s Logic had been forced to miss the English equivalent at Newmarket, for which she had been a warm favourite, when going lame on the eve of the race.

But Channon reported that the unbeaten filly has enjoyed a clear preparation ahead of her Classic date in Ireland.

'She worked well and as long as everything is all right she`ll run, we`ve got a little bit of work to do with her yet,' said Channon.

'I`m thrilled. She worked with her usual work horses this morning and I`m very pleased with her.'

Meanwhile, Misterah, winner of the Nell Gwyn before finishing sixth at Newmarket, has been virtually ruled out of the contest.

Marcus Tregoning is instead contemplating the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot for the daughter of Alhaarth.

'The race in Ireland could come a bit quick for her after the Guineas,' said Tregoning. 'I was a bit disappointed the way the race was run in the Guineas, as she`s never been able to do that quick sprint business.'

Tregoning has confirmed that Nayef will be in action at the Curragh, running in the Group One Tattersalls Gold Cup.

'He`s in very good form and there`s every chance that he will take his chance,' said Tregoning, who considers his Dubai Sheema Classic winner, a half-brother to Derby hero Nashwan, could be an ideal candidate for the Breeders` Cup Classic over 10 furlongs at Arlington in October.

'Willie Carson always thought that Nashwan`s ideal trip was a mile and a quarter,' he added. 'I`ll take it step by step but I could well see him going to Chicago.'
