The Gordon Elliott-trained Emily Love stuck on gamely to land the spoils in a dramatic finish to the opening mares beginners chase at Tramore today. Future Prospect went to post 4/9 in the race, run over just shy of two miles, and went on from the eventual winner after the fifth fence after the pair had disputed early.

Emily Love came to join her again over the second last, where the hotpot crashed out.

The 10/3 shot soon bagged the lead, for Sam Ewing, and repelled the late challenge of Beauforts Storm from the last to record a half-length win.

Assistant Ian Amond said:- “She did it well. She probably wants a bit further ideally but she jumped well.

“It’s grand for her owners, Jim (Reilly) has had horses with Gordon since he started and he doesn’t come racing much anymore. It worked out great that he was here today.

“They are great people, local people to the yard.

“She’s a cracking mare. She’s won loads of hurdles and hopefully now she can do the same over fences.”
